A combined 45+ years of Water and Wastewater Treatment Experience
Brendan Doherty
Director
Originally educated in Ireland, Brendan commenced his career at CEDA Chartered Engineers, where he played a crucial role in designing and implementing various projects, including mobile sludge dewatering plants, oil recovery plants, and the management of operations for a pharmaceutical company’s 50 million WWTP facility.
In 2009, Brendan made the decision to immigrate to Australia.
Over the next 13 years, he held several senior management positions within the water industry, honing his skills in engineering, sales, project delivery, business management, and service and operations. In 2022, Brendan, along with his business partners Michael and Kyle, acquired ABCO Water. His extensive experience and diverse skill set positioned him as a valuable asset to ABCO Water’s mission of delivering innovative water solutions while upholding the highest standards of quality and service.
Brendan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Honours from the University of Ulster in Belfast, Ireland, providing him with a solid foundation for his contributions to the industry.
Kyle Matthews
Director
With an early passion for water, Kyle’s career started with more than twenty years in the marine industry in various management roles, across both manufacturing and equipment distribution. With an ability to find the right solution and always look after people, he was instrumental in the successful start-up and growth of state and regional business units. This included 8 years in Queensland where he gained valuable experience in engineering and manufacturing and was involved with the design of seawater desalination systems for large private and commercial boats.
On returning to Perth in 2013 he naturally transitioned into larger industrial water and wastewater treatment for the resources industry. In 2022, Kyle (with two former colleagues Brendan and Michael), purchased one of Australia’s oldest and most trusted water treatment companies, ABCO Water.
Kyle’s technical knowledge, project experience and ability to forge trusted long-term relationships with clients, employees and suppliers only strengthens ABCO Waters capacity to deliver on their promise of Making Water Right.
Kyle holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia, which included his final year being completed at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, USA.
